Welcome to Adoption with Somerset County Council
There are many reasons why a child cannot live with his or her birth parents, and adoption into a new family provides a secure and loving upbringing. We want to give as many people the chance to help children have a happy family life.
This website is your first step to finding out about adoption and if you have any questions please get in touch by calling freephone 0800 587 9900 or email us at email@example.com
You can also find lots of information and stories from adopters on the Government's First4Adoption website.
We have recently launched a new type of adoption called 'Babies come first' commonly known as Concurrent Planning. This type of adoption is a way of caring for babies and young children, under two years old, in care who are likely to need adoption, but who still have a chance of being reunited with their birth family. Find out more about this scheme here.
The next information event is on:
Saturday 29 November 10am-12noon at Somerset Skills and learning Centre in Minehead.
Monday 12 January 7-9pm at Pawlett Village Hall near Highbridge.
